This Week's Tasting: RED HOOK WINERY - Thurs. March 3 2022 5:30 - 8:00 pm

Thursday March 3, 2022: Three Bottles Hand-Crafted in Brooklyn by Red Hook Winery! If you've ever spent the golden hour in Red Hook, you're familiar with its unique aura. The cobblestones, the quieted industrialism, Manhattan's not-so-distant skyline: the neighborhood feels both of this world and somehow beyond it. It's a fitting location for Red Hook Winery, a distinctly urban winemaking operation that exists in a meaningful relationship with our state's expansive, agricultural landscape. In January, the Depanneur crew paid a visit to the winery's warehouse on Pier 41 to catch up, engage in a little friendly debate - what makes a wine "barnyardy", really?? - and to sip on a bunch of stuff. Since its founding in 2008, the winery...

This Thursday's (2/16) In-store tasting Line-Up from MFW . Join us 5:30-8 PM

German Gilabert Cava Brut Nature Reserva NV (11.5% ABV) 750 ml   Cava is Spain’s most famous sparkling wine. In order to be called Cava, the wine has to be made using the Champagne method, or método tradicional, where the secondary fermentation happens in the bottle. 95% of Cava is produced in the Penedés area of Catalonia, located just southwest of Barcelona. It is no wonder that Cava is the drink of choice in the many tapas bars of the great city. The grapes used for German Gilabert come from the subzone Alt Penedes, where the highest elevation plots are located. Only native grapes are used, and the wine is bottled without added sugar, or Brut Nature Reserva. German Gilabert...

Three Wines from the Vaimaki Family (Macedonia) This Thurs. Jan. 27th 5:30-8 PM

“Vaimaki Family” is the urban winemaking project of oenologist Vasilis Vaimakis. An oenologist with vast winemaking experience, Vaimakis is also one of the first oenologists of Greece who explored the limits of natural vinification of Greek grapes with zero sulfites. Although Eklektikon’s portfolio is centered around growers, Vaimaki Family is the only exception to the rule, in order to represent the first Greek vintages of no-added-sulfite wines, under the iconic and ever-changing label “Mater Natura”. Vaimaki Family - Aperos Gaea Pet Nat 2020 Amyndeo (or “Amyntaio”) constitutes one of the most alpine climates of Greece, surrounded by lakes and at an altitude of over 600m. This makes it ideal for the production of sparkling wines from the humidity loving Xinomavro grape and...
