vineyard info: near the quiet town of Forestville, once abandoned property on rolling hills, surrounded by redwood forest, a mere eight miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, restoration began in 1980. Perched like a saddle between ridgelines in Pocket Canyon, the site benefits from cooling morning and afternoon fog, which rolls in reliably from the ocean. Shale and fractured sandstone soils are well suited to the Chardonnay planted in 1980 to the Old Wente Clone. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically, with our blocks located on the north-facing side, allowing for an extended growing season.

Soils here are Goldridge sandy loam with high concentration of silica. 35+ year old vines.

Ceritas craft their limited cuvees with the cellar in mind, these are truly Burgundian-esque wines that need some time to breathe or a few years in the wine fridge.

Bright and saline, with hints of exotic flowers and herbs, crushed stone, chamomile, lemon peel, flinty and finely sculpted, medium bodied, savory, core of minerality and acidity with layers of citrus fruit hiding beneath. Long mouthwatering finish. Powerful and with great pedigree.
