The territory is the hilly one of eastern Friuli, specifically in Cormons, right in the lands where he was born and raised. 1.5 hectares of vineyards that extend on the eastern slope of Monte Quarin, and are rooted in the classic soil of Friuli, called Ponca.

Grande Waldo is Nikolas' luminous cuvée composed of Malvasia Istriana, Ribolla and Friulano. The grapes come from his Pradis and Bosc di Sot vineyards that were planted in 1910 and 1960.
The Pradis and Bosc di Sot vineyards, are located on some of the hottest hills in Collio. Heat, limestone soil, "soft" crushing with the feet, all elements that create an elegant wine with a ripe fruity note but great freshness, light and perfectly integral tannin and a mineral backbone that lengthens the wine in thanks and persistence.

Nikolas Juretic is being hailed as the new star of Friuli, but production of his 1.5 hectares is only around 6000 bottles each year so don't miss grabbing a bottle when you see one.
Tending his vines with as little damage as possible to ensure maximum life flowing throughout, The soil is mainly made of Limestone, Marl and Sandstone (a perfect mix!) which in the region is known as Ponca, or Flysh.

Displaying hints of candied citrus and a lovely palate tension, Grande Waldo is a wine of exceptional intensity and length that will age for decades.

farming/cellar: foot crushed, not destemmed, ambient yeast, short maceration 3-6 days in concrete, aged in old Slavonian oak for 11 months, no added so2, Stomped by feet in plastic bucket before being moved to concrete, after five days on the skins the wines were pressed into barrels to age for eleven months. The grapes are harvested by hand, crushed with the feet without destemming and then macerated for 3-6 days in concrete tanks. After spontaneous fermentation, the wine is pressed and transferred to old oak barrels where it ages for 11 months.
