Natus, Tinto 2022
In the heart of Vidigueira, at the southern foot of the Serra do Mendro mountain range, in schistous soils with sandy loam and silty loam textures, are planted the untrellised vines that gave rise to this wine.
The traditional grape varieties, mostly Trincadeira and Castelão, harvested by hand, were foot-trodden for two days. Upon the spontaneous start of fermentation, the grapes were pressed and the must kept in unlined 19th-century clay amphorae until the end of alcoholic fermentation. The aging process, lasting 12 months, took place in centuries-old Portuguese oak and chestnut barrels.
Vibrant ruby red with garnet reflections. Aromas of balsam and spices, enveloped in fresh red fruit. Notes of forest floor with pine needles, delicate and very fine tannins, which translate into a reactive acidity on the palate. Tense, crisp and elegant texture. Freshness is its character and identity, never tiring, unfolding several layers of flavors, challenging the senses and making it a delight at the table.
