Every year Julian declassifies one 1,000L fuder from the Grand Cru Goldtröpfchen vineyard and sells it to Vom Boden - who then release this stunning Riesling as the "1000L". Every vintage is a little different (Haart allows the fermentation to stop wherever nature dictates, though there is never any noticeable RS and are often legally trocken) but always delicious, impeccably balanced and sure to fly off the shelves. High-toned citrus fruit with wonderful minerality and palate-cleansing acidity.
When Julian released his first vintage under his own label in 2010, the world noticed. Even though he’s made more than a few jaw-dropping wines, most of his tastings end with him telling you what he would have done differently, where he thinks he failed, and how he could have done better, says our distributor, Vom-Boden.
Everything’s done by hand on the crazy steep vineyards of ungrafted vines (25 years old for this bottling). Laser-like precision not lacking in opulent fruit. If this is entry level what’s the next level up?
