Hiyu Tzum, Fionn Spring Ephemeral Columbia Gorge 2024 750 ml

Vineyard: Scorched Earth, leased plot farmed by Nate et al since 2016. Fionn comes from a very dry plot with low yields, 1.25 acres of basalt subsoil and very dry, pure volcanic sand decomposed basalt. Planted in late 1990s.

Making of: “Harvested at very low sugars as the leaves turn gold and fall in their struggle with the rock. Fermented until it reaches a peak of color and perfume, but pressed before the tannins rise.”

Personality (winemaker’s note): “No one could guess that this is Zinfandel. It’s pale, vibrant, absurdly floral and aromatic and utterly refreshing. It is intended to be served chilled at the height of summer’s heat. Absurdly delicious… this takes the spot as our pick for summer pizza wine.”
