Domaine Raphael Chopin - MORGON Les Charmes 2021 750ml (13% abv)
You loved their Regnie so much there isn't any left! Here is their cuvee from the cru of Morgon for the same (ridiculous) price!
Morgon from granite sub vineyard "Les Charmes". Old vines. Mix of traditional and carbonic vinification. Aged in concrete. Low sulphur. Crafted from organically cultivated, estate-grown Gamay grapes (certified organic as of 2023), this wine is a true expression of the Morgon cru in Beaujolais. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a 12- to 15-day maceration, then fermented with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks. It’s aged on the lees for a year in cement, lending texture and complexity, before a gentle filtration.
a touch more serious, still chillable and easy drinking but with a bit more complexity and oomph, blueberries, black cherries, blackberries, seducing and deep expression of Morgon. captivating bouquet of ripe cherry layered with delicate floral notes, hinting at violet and rose. On the palate, it delights with a fresh, vibrant entry, leading into a lively dance of red and black fruits accented by subtle savory nuances. Silky and well-structured, it unfolds with impressive length, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and depth—simply delicious!

Located in Lantignié in Beaujolais is Domaine Raphaël Chopin, a property of about five hectares of vines in Morgon, Régnié and Beaujolais Villages. The Domaine is made up of young vines planted in 1989, which are next to the oldest, gnarled vines planted in 1905. They are located near the crus of Régnié and Brouilly and the domaine is in the commune of Lantignié in the lieu dit of “La Savoye.” The domaine was created in 2009, after Raphaël had a chance to buy his grandfather’s vines. He is now working in three appellations spread over five hectares: two hectares in Beaujolais-Villages Lantignié, two hectares in Régnié, and one hectare in Morgon. Raphaël’s philosophy is to be respectful of the terroir and the vines in order to offer the best of each vintage. He practices lutte raisonée, and most of the treatments used in the vineyard are of natural origin, such as sulfurs and copper. Vinification is semi-carbonic at a low temperature. He practices a reasoned viticulture in which the size of his domaine allows him to monitor each plot and to know his land. The new plantings on the estate are worked with biological control.
we love this fun & scrumptious Gamay, an almost new world Pinot Noir-like bouquet, raspberry, Bing cherry, forest floor, lipsmacking, chillable
