Georges Millerioux, Sancerre "Tradition" 2024 750ml
Appellation: AOC Sancerre
Location: The domaine is located in the hamlet of Amigny, just West of the village of Sancerre and South of Chavignol. Sancerre is located in the Western Loire Valley winemaking region.
Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Vineyard: Blend of a few vineyards planted on classic limestone soils. The domaine farms a total of 15ha of vines organically, and all replanting happens via massale selection. Soils are worked manually.
Vinification: Grapes are pressed direct, then kept in cold temperatures overnight to settle the solids. The juice is then transferred via gravity to stainless tanks in the room below the press, where they ferment using native yeasts. CO2 is used instead of SO2 to protect the fermenting juice. The wine ages 8mo on the lees in tank, then is lightly filtered before bottling. The wine is not fined, and only small doses of SO2 are added, just at racking and bottling.
Annual production: 60,000 bottles
Tasting note: Fresh, generous fruit notes of melon and citrus, with well-balanced acidity and minerality through a long finish.
