Maxime Magnon - "Rozeta" Corbieres Rouge 2017

50-60 year old vines planted in limestone and schist with fissured rock

11 hectare plot

matured in old/neutral Burgundy barrels obtained from Chassagne Montrachet.

Tasting Notes: Deep purple, matured whole cluster, touch of leather, morello cherries, soft cacoa, juicy tart, medium body, good grip on the finish, then finishes with a crunchy backbone reminiscent of dark schist and roasted spices.

"The Rozeta features the exuberant, inviting perfume and velvety wild fruit we expect from a wine that underwent 100% whole-cluster fermentation, then finishes with a crunchy backbone reminiscent of dark schist and roasted spices. Beware—the Languedoc just got dangerously gulpable.Anthony Lynch"

Domaine Vinci - Cotes Catalanes Rouge "Rafalot" Carignan 2014

Phenomenal Basque French red that oozes complexity due to a great combination of old vines (100 years!) and a bit more maturity from time in bottle. Sophisticated, medium+ in body & structure, spicy black cherry, dusty earth, dried Provencal herbs, lingering finish.

100% Carignan from a 1 hectare (2.47 acres = tiny) plot with clay/limestone soil

Practicing organic farming

• The enclosed exposition of the Rafalot parcel allows for the grapes to preserve their freshness and mature slowly
• Hand harvested
• Whole clusters are crushed gently by foot
• Natural fermentation in cement tank for 4 to 5 weeks
• Punchdowns and pumpovers during fermentation
• Wine aged in demi-muids and 12 year old barrels for 18 months, and then 6 months in stainless steel
• Wine is not racked
• Regular topping off of old barrels and stirring of the lees
• Unfined and unfiltered
• No SO2 during vinification
• “Rafalot” is the name of the valley where the vines are planted
