Join us this Thursday as we welcome WINE mc2 with three terrific bottles from their unique portfolio!
1. Domaine Julie Benau - Picpoul de Pinet 2020
100% Picpoul from the very talented Julie Benau.
(Picpoul translates to "lip-stinger" due to the lip-smacking acidity of this varietal)
-extended lees aging -practicing organic
Unlike many in the region, Benau only uses estate fruit and does not sell any of her grapes to a co-op. Minerality & salinity, think a breeze off the Mediterranean, with ripe orchard fruit, nice body and mid-palate texture
2. Mooa Wine - "Sakana" Pinot Noir 2020
Mooa Wine is a "Drifter" domaine project started in California. This whole cluster-fermented Pinot Noir spends 5 months in neutral French barriques before being bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with no added SO2.
Grown in a vineyard near Morro Bay in the Templeton Gap District - Central Coast, the cooling waters allow for cool nights (preserving acidity while offering ripe fruit.)
Stewed red seaside berries, touch of earth, very fresh and fun style, can be chilled if you so choose!
3. Domaine Saint Bacchi - Alicante "Carpe Diem" 2014
Alicante Bouschet = a varietal crossing whose parents are Grenache and Petit Bouschet (this hybrid was created by Henri Bouschet)
100% Alicante from 50 yr. old vines, certified organic, indigenous yeast, 18 months in demi-muids, no added sulfites.
Lean, deep purple fruit, volcanic, graphite, chalky, dry, grippy tannins.
A chewy red for a cool evening.
