Hagar Matthias Gruner Veltliner Mollands 2020
Certified Biodynamic Gruner Veltliner from the small winegrowing village of Mollands in the northern part of the Kamptal DAC. Grown in clay and loess soil at 340m above sea level, vines range between 30-50 years of age, hand harvested and spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks with extended time on the lees. Medium bodied, mineral driven and very dry with notes of white pepper, wet stones, and salty hay. A classic and expressive Gruner that pairs with everything from sushi to Chicken Milanese.
Ciry Cattaneo Malabestia Minervois 2018
Domaine Ciry Cattaneo is situated in the Minervois region of Languedoc and contains some amazing certified organic old vines (this terroir-driven blend is 60% Grenache, 25% Carignan, and 15% Syrah). Vines ranged from 25-80 years in age. Ambient yeast fermentation and minimal oak influence (only the Syrah saw six months in barrel while the majority of the blend was put in steel). David Ciry studied winemaking in Bordeaux and Reims, before completing his apprenticeship as a winemaker all over the globe. Back in France he started a winemaking consulting company mostly for small organic wineries. Full bodied, powerful, complex, spicy - a great winter red to cozy up with.
Sage Rat, Dolcetto Lonesome Spring Vineyard Yakima Valley 2020
100% Dolcetto from Yakima Valley's sustainable farmed Lonesome Spring Vineyard. 10 year old vines planted in volcanic and Loess soil. Minimal intervention winemaking includes ambient yeast fermentation, carbonic maceration in stainless steel tanks, and bottling unfined & unfiltered. Briefly aged for four months in neutral oak. A really fun effort from winemaker Dusty Jenkins, who focuses on Italian varietals and achieving harmony between climate and soil. Bright and cheery with fresh red berry fruit, grippy tannins, and lipsmacking acidity. Slightly chill and enjoy with pizza.
