A Taste of Croatia & Slovenia with VINIUM! (THU. APRIL 21) 6pm-8pm

We love bringing in new distributors to Dep Wines, so we are extra excited for this in-store tasting with VINIUM. Each of these unique bottles landed in the shop just a few days ago, so what better way to introduce them than through our weekly tasting! Stop by between 6pm and 8pm on the 21st to sample this excellent trio: a rare white from Croatia, a Slovenian orange wine, and finally a very versatile red from Croatia.

Vostinic-Klasnic - Skrlet 2021 750ml (11.8% ABV)

100% Skrlet, which is only grown in the hills of Moslavina, a micro-region of continental Croatia. Soil is clay / loam at 160 meters elevation.

Practicing organic, dry farmed, hand harvested (no irrigation), vinified in stainless steel, a lot of manual labor is involved.

Young light playful, packed with flowery notes, herbaceous, Crisp minerals, fruity tastes, preserved lemons, high acidity, ideal summer wine.

Pairs well with sushi, pasta & spicy foods as well as fruity desserts.

Rodica - Malvasia Selection 2018 750ml

This Malvasia was farmed in Primorska, Slovenia. 50% of the wine is fermented naturally on the skins for 3 days in stainless steel tanks to preserve the varietal aromas followed by 6 months of aging in 2500L Acacia barrels and the other 50% of the wine is fermented for 20 days in open vats to get more secondary notes. Then followed by 2.5 years aged in used French barrique barrels.

Fuller bodied, lower acidity, still elegant - for fans of oaked Chardonnay.

Bergamot, Moscato, honey and tea flower notes of chamomile with a touch of zest.

 Zlatan - Bilo Idro Plavac 2020 750ml (12.5% ABV)

Fresh, approachable, easy drinking. Lighter bodied than most Plavac Mali - with a bright palate of cherries and blueberries, a subtle earthiness and gentle tannins. Can certainly be enjoyed with a slight chill.

100% Plavac Mali from the outskirts of Sibenik (Vrpolje settlement) in the coastal region of Dalmatia, Croatia. Sourced from rocky and rugged vineyards that enjoy a beautiful view of the sea (elevation ranges from 50 to 300 meters in elevation). Soil consists of red and brown clay atop a limestone foundation.

Organic, dry farmed. No fertilizer or sprays aside from minimal powdered sulfites. Hand harvested, 8 day maceration in steel tanks, spontaneous fermentation. Matured 18 months in steel (no oak). Lightly fined, unfiltered.
