100% estate grown Viura
-sourced from the 24 hectare Vina Gravonia vineyard
-30 to 40 year old vines
-soil: poor, gravelly, south-facing calcareous-clay slopes with very good drainage
-fermented in oak vats that Heredia has been using for more than 100 years !!
-matured 4 years in American oak barrels (8 to 10 years old) - and then another several years in bottle in their cellars before release
-while oak is imported, Heredia has their own cooperage onsite so that they can meticulously craft their barrels exactly to specification.
-classically fined with egg whites, bottled unfiltered
-There is nothing quite like the mature white wines of Lopez de Heredia. Purposefully oxidized, these age-worthy expressions of Viura are singular and complex.
-roasted almonds, mushrooms, slate minerals, dried vanilla bean, dried orange peel, beeswax or an almost Sherry like character that should appeal to fans of orange wine.
