Hager is located in the northern part of the Kamptal in the small town of Mollands. Matthias studied at the school of Oenology & Viticulture in Krems, Austria and worked for several years in the Wachau and Burgenland at large commercial wineries. Matthias then began to create his own style of wine at the age of 21. For the last 15 years he has been producing terroir-driven wines from native varietals on his 14 hectares of vineyards from around his hometown of Mollands. Matthias has been Biodynamic certified from Demeter since 2005.

truly one of the shop's favorite winemakers, as we often have 3-4 diff cuvees in stock from hager.

This bottling made exclusively with clusters of the variety Zweigelt which was found in Austria by Dr. Zweigelt in 1922. 20 year old vines grow on clay/loam soil in Kamptal, lower Austria at about 350m elevation. The harvest is rather early because healthy grapes are very important for a good red and rosé wine.

darker in color but still totally dry and refreshing, another winner from one of our favorite winemakers. juicy watermelon, black cherry, raspberry, pomegranate seeds, has the acid-driven spine of a white wine.
