Loire Valley 100% Pineau d'Aunis
This is a tiny single vineyard of 90+ year old Pineau d’Aunis vines.
The wine was made with a 15 day carbonic maceration, unfined, unfiltered, no added SO2, picked for 10% abv and therefore totally aromatic with an ultra high level of buvabilité, light-bodied, showing slight touch of of freshly ground pepper, raspberry fizz, dried rose petal, energy! Give it a swirl first for maximum enjoyment and to blow off the funk, (;-)
Fun fact, If you don't know what La Poivrotte means, let's just put it kindly, it's someone who might want to drink A LOT of it.
Damien is one of the most precise and rigorous winemakers we have met. He is truly on the quest for natural perfection expressed through Chenin Blanc, Grolleau and Pineau d’Aunis. The Domaine is in the village of Champ-sur-Layon, not far from the elegant town of Angers. This area offers a great advantage, being at the crossroads of 2 distinct geological zones, thus offering access to deep rich degrading schistes which give fire, as well as some classic pure clay limestone terroirs.
Damien is a fervant zero intervention winemaker, but does not rest until each wine has gone though its course to ensure the bottled wine is as near perfection as possible. Patience is a must, with long fermentations and long barrel aging, but when the wines are ready, we release the wait was worth the while! With only 3 ha for the world, we are lucky to be able to offer you a taste of this tireless work.
