Sourced from Umbrian hills at 300-400m elevation, south/southwest exposure, vines average 15 years old
Antonelli San Marco is a wine estate in the Montefalco region of Umbria. It is best known for its red wines made from the Sagrantino grape variety. Sangiovese, Trebbiano Spoletino and Grechetto are also grown.
The property covers 175 hectares (430 acres) in the heart of the DOCG zone. 50ha (123 acres) of vineyard plots are situated on hilltops with southern and western exposure; soils are a combination of clay and limestone. There are also 10ha of olive trees.
Rich and powerful, ethereal and very complex. Notes of brambly blackberry, aromatic herbs, wild berry, plum, prunes, mint and oregano. On the palate this wine is very structured, with firm, polished tannins and mouthwatering acidity. A true cellar-worthy bottle - designed to hit peak drinking window 10-15 years after harvest (2026-2031) and can be kept even longer than that!
