Note from the Dep. Wines team: This fascinating orange Riesling was just released and should be stashed away in your cellar/wine fridge for a few months if possible.
In 2013, Bloomer Creek purchased a vineyard, abandoned for over 30 years, on the east side of Seneca Lake. The high rocky hillside was planted to eight acres of vines; Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
-Vinified from extended skin-contact (2 to 3 days) and spontaneously fermented in stainless-steel
-this Riesling is a compelling interplay between minerality, sumptuous fruit with a touch of botrytis (noble rot) and vibrant acidity.
-Unfined and unfiltered, with minimal S02 only at bottling.
-Barrow in Old Norse means “high rocky hill and burial mound."
