The elderly around Amyndeo still call it “Popolka”, the actual name of Xinomavro before the 70’s. A natural, zero-zero red Xinomavro, from its birthplace in the lake terroir of Amyndeo, from the master of the kind, Vasilis Vaimakis.
climate is dominated by the lake Vegoritis, with cold Winter, mild Summer.
soil is Sandy clay over limestone, excellent drainage, 33 year old vines, 650m elevation, south east facing 8% slope, 5,000 liters produced annually.
Brick red with intense pomegranate, cherries and leather notes on the nose and hints of hay, with a surprisingly clean light to medium bodied palate with ripe cherries, bright acidity and playful tannins.

farming/cellar: organic, hand harvested,10 days of maceration in steel, fermented by their native yeast with some temperature control in stainless steel for one month, and raised for another 5 months in stainless and 12 more in neutral barriques, before bottled unfiltered, unfined, unsulfured (zero additives).
