De Angelis - Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC 2023 750ML (13% ABV)
Exhibits intense dark ruby red color with violet overtones, nose of blackberry, plum and morello cherry. Medium to fuller bodied with enough structure (noticeable tannin and acidity) to pair with a grilled steak or sausage. Montepulciano is always a classic go-to with pizza as well.
Aromas of blackberry compote, spiced plums, and wild violets provide a complex and fragrant experience. The taste is full-bodied and smooth, with a gentle grip of tannins that coat the mouth. The finish is lifted by a refreshing acidity and a lingering hint of wild forest berries.
The estate, owned and run by the family De Angelis, was founded in the 1950's by Alighiero De Angelis and Giovanna Ciabattoni in Cossignano, a small inland town in the Piceno region... In 1985 a new winery was established in Castel di Lama ... to(wards) the production of quality DOC wines and thus including the De Angelis Estate in the list of the elite wine producers of the Marche region.
Darkly colored and made from certified organically grown grapes, this sturdy, robust Montepulciano packs a lot of flavor and is a terrific bang for the buck! Aromas of blackberry compote, spiced plums and wild violets grace the nose with aromatic richness and earthy complexity. In the mouth the flavors gather with a gentle grip of mouth coating tannin and finishes with a lift of acidity and a lingering note of wild forest berries.
