Bold expression of Left Bank terroir.
Family estate in the northern edge of Medoc, with 18 hectares of vines averaging 35 years in age (although this estate has some parcels they do not bottle that are 150+ years old!). Soil is gravel, sand, clay, and limestone.
Dark, almost inky color, heady nose of ripe cassis, toasty oak spice, graphite, and coffee grounds. Medium to full bodied with polished tannins, ripe dark berry fruit, clove, dried vanilla bean, and a long finish.
this youthful wine is powerful and made to be cellared for 5-10 years, so a decant will be needed.

farming/cellar: organic, vinified in a combo of oak vats & cement tanks, malo occurred, 1/3 of the wine was aged on the lees for 6 months, matured for 17 months: 70% of the wine in 100% new French oak barrels, 25% aged in concrete eggs, 5% in terracotta amphora jars.
