Tamásis makes small-production wines from his organic 8-hectare property in Somló, Central Hungary. Somló is Hungary’s smallest and most distinctive appellation. Its soils, rich in black basalt and other volcanic minerals, give the wines a distinctive smoky quality.

Rich and expansive, with green apple an extremely salty finish - a wine Tomi calls "a real volcanic bomb." Tomi described 2021 as a “dream” vintage – healthy grapes with good acidity, balance, structure and depth. It was a warmer year than usual, giving the grapes more ripeness and higher alcohol levels. This wine is made from grapes hailing from 20-year-old vines on the west- and east-facing parcels on Tomi’s estate. Fermentation was at the end of September 2021.

region: Somló, Hungary

varietals: 100% Furmint

Fermentation was on the lees, and it was very lengthy in 2021. Aged on the lees for a further 7 months in new and used 500 L selected Hungarian oak. Unfined. Low sulfites added.
